Chelsea want Mauricio Pochettino as their new managerby Jack Kitson / 15 May 2018, 08:48Tweet
It’s that silly time of year when ridiculous rumours spurt out of absolutely nowhere, but while few things come as a huge shock in the managerial sphere these days, this latest story certainly took The Sack Race by surprise.
Chelsea want Mauricio Pochettino as their new manager, should (as expected) Antonio Conte leave the club this summer.
The Blues are widely expected to part ways with Conte in the aftermath of Saturday’s FA Cup Final against Jose Mourinho’s Man Utd.
And the capital club have now reportedly set their sights on the manager of one of their fiercest rivals, Tottenham, according to Sky Sports News.
Pochettino has shown signs of unrest in recent weeks, however a sudden switch across London to Chelsea seems out of the question.
Not only is there the obvious rivalry between the clubs, but Chelsea haven’t even qualified for next season’s Champions League, while Tottenham have booked their place in Europe’s top competition for the third straight season.
Pochettino, who still has three years left on his current contract, can be backed out at 25/1 (Paddy Power) to embark on one of the biggest managerial moves in the history of football, although we suggest that you look elsewhere in the Next Chelsea Manager Market.
Napoli head coach Maurizio Sarri remains the 3/1 favourite for the Blues post, followed by the former Barcelona boss Luis Enrique at 4/1.
Meanwhile, the ex Blues boss Avram Grant is now a 7/1 shot to return to the Bridge...
...we can’t see that one happening.
Other names to keep an eye on include Carlo Ancelotti, Brendan Rodgers and Max Allegri.
