Joey Barton's proposed new Fleetwood Town documentary will be absolute goldby Jack Kitson / 16 August 2018, 10:59Tweet
Forget the imminent release of Manchester City’s new Amazon Prime series 'All Or Nothing', as over in League One Joey Barton is set to star in his own documentary series with new club Fleetwood Town.
Yes, that's right. Barton's first foray into management is being filmed for all to see - let’s just hope he isn’t an early victim of the ubiquitous Sack Race!
The camera lens has been pinned on Barton ever since he first stepped into the managerial job at Fleetwood - focusing on the training, his office, the pre-season tour, and at home games - while he has also been mic’d up, although not during matches, which is a real shame.
According to the Daily Mail, big guns such as Netflix, Sky Sports and BBC are all gunning to bag the rights for what promises be a must see fly-on-the-wall series, while a deal with Amazon could also be on the cards.
Back in April Barton was announced as the shock replacement for John Sheridan, before taking up the position in early June following the expiration of his betting ban.
The 35-year-old has since recorded one win and one draw from his opening three league games in charge, with the Cod Army currently 10th in the third-tier ahead of Saturday’s clash at home to Keith Hill’s Rochdale.
Meanwhile, on Tuesday his troops edged out Crewe 4-3 on penalties in the Carabao Cup after the teams played out a 1-1 draw over 90 minutes.
