Betting odds point to Mourinho being the favourite to takeover the reigns at Manchester United

Back in 2001 Sir Alex Ferguson was preparing to retire as the manager of the biggest football club in England and his upcoming retirement was announced to the press to much speculation as to who would become his successor. However after United's form dipped he was convinced so sign on for an additional three years if February 2002. The following season United were back in form winning the Premier League for the eight time.
Since then there has been little speculation as to when Sir Alex will retire although there were rumours circulating around May this year that if Manchester United win the Premier League this season then Sir Alex will retire so that the 69 year old can go out on a high. With Manchester United currently leading the Premier League it looks like it could be another title win for the Red Devils, currently they are at odds of 8/15 to be the Premier League Champions. Whoever does take over the reigns at Manchester United will indeed have big boots to fill. Sir Alex as well as being one of the most successful manager in footballing history is also the longest currently employed manager in all the Football Leagues having joined United in November 1986 he has now been with the side for over 24 years.
Of those managers that could walk into the role and be the next Manchester United manager and have the personality to cope with the stars in the dressing room is the current boss of Real Madrid Jose Mourinho. He has already experienced the toughness and speed of the Premier League with Chelsea when he managed them from 2004 - 2007 and has also looked after some of the biggest footballing prima donnas at Inter Milan as well as his current club. With rumours in the press of his dissatisfaction with the board at Real Madrid could this be the man to take over at United? Currently the bookies think so and have made him the favourite to take on the role at some point with his odds being just 9/4 with bookmakers Sky Bet.
As well as having Premier League experience Mourinho is also an accomplished manager in the Champions League having won the title with Porto and Inter Milan.
