Iain Dowie Favourite To Be Next Hull Managerby Richard Smith / 16 March 2010, 10:48Tweet
We are just a couple of months away from the end of the season but we are in the midst of a betting frenzy as speculation grows as to who will be the next Hull City Manager following Phil Brown's sacking. Hull are deep in a relegation battle and chairman Adam Pearson has decided now is the time to act in order help the club stay in the top flight. Several names have been mentioned for the job at the KC Stadium but the Sack Race understands there is a small shortlist of candidates being considered for the vacancy with club hoping to appoint their man as early as Wednesday morning.
The Next Hull City Manager Odds have gone into overdrive with rumours spreading that Iain Dowie is the man to take the job and he is the clear favourite to take the reigns at the moment with Skybet, they have been following the situation carefully and are convinced that Dowie is the man for Hull. Dowie has a mixed career as a Manager with stints at Crystal Palace, QPR and Charlton in the past and is likely to jump at the chance to Manager in the Premier League once again. The early favourites included Alan Curbishley and Steve Coppell but it is now thought that they are out of the running with Mark Hughes also being linked with the job having been sacked from Man City in December. The Sack Race understands that Hughes is on the shortlist for the job but he is an established Premier League Manager and there has to be question marks over his desire to take charge of a club that could well be heading to the Championship.
The former Bolton Manager Gary Megson is another one thought to be in the frame for the job and he is the sort of man that may well relish the task of keeping the Tigers in the top flight having had a tough time at the Reebok Stadium before being sacked. There are also some reports of Terry Venables being sounded out by Adam Pearson but that looks a long shot at best as the betting reflects in what is a competitive market at this stage. The Sack Race is expecting the new gaffer to be either Gary Megson or Iain Dowie with both men having something to prove at the top level and keeping Hull City in the Premier League would give both of them a big career boost. Whether either of them would be a popular choice with fans is up for debate but they will know if they can lead Hull to 4th bottom come May then the fans will not care a jot!
