Roberto Mancini's odds on being sacked slashed as City draw againby Steve Claridge / 16 November 2010, 10:36Tweet
Bookmakers Victor Chandler have again cut the odds on Manchester Citys troubled manager Roberto Mancini being the next to join the Premiership sack race. The Italian has had his odds slashed to just 9/4 to be the next Premier League manager to be sacked, directly behind West Ham manager Avram Grant whose is at odds of 7/4.
The cut in odds is a direct result of Manchester City's second consecutive goalless draw at Eastlands. Firstly there was the bitterly disappointing game against local rivals Manchester United, this was followed on Saturday by the match against Birmingham City who are currently struggling in the relegation zone.
The result on Saturday was met angrily by City fans especially when Carlos Tevez was taken off and replaced by the defensive midfielder Gareth Barry. As City needed to win the game, this seemed an odd substitution given that the £18 million Brazilian striker Jo was sitting on the bench.
The City faithful were heard to chant Whats Going on at this surprise decision to seemingly go for the draw when 3 points were desperately needed if Manchester City have any real expectations of winning the Premiership Title this season.
City have only won once out of their last five Premiership games and they have failed to score any goals in the league at Eastlands since the beginning of October. If this level of performance is to continue then serious questions will need to be asked by the Manchester City board of Mancinis ability to manage one of the most expensive teams in the Premiership, as the fans will not tolerate results like this for much longer. If Mancini were to be sacked hotly tipped to replace him in the next Manchester City manager odds is either Frank Rijkaard or Guus Hiddink.
