Brendan Rodgers Leaves Reading

Brendan Rodgers has left Reading by mutual consent after just six months in charge of the team with the side lying just one place above the relegation zone, Rodgers has managed just five wins whilst in charge of the Royals with just one of those coming at the Madejski Stadium. Reading narrowly missed out on promotion to the Premier League last season which led to long time manager Steve Coppell leaving the club, Rodgers was hand picked for the job whilst still at Watford but things have not worked out for the former Chelsea Coach.
Jose Mourinho no less had tipped Rodgers for success as a Manager having worked with him at Chelsea but Rodgers had his hands tied at Reading with many of the big names leaving the club last summer to pay off the clubs debts. It was only a few years ago that Reading finished a Premier League season in the top half of the table, but things have gone terribly wrong for the team since then with League One football on the cards if things do not improve soon.
Attention will now turn to Rodgers successor at Reading and there already a number of names being banded about by the bookmaker Sky Bet, former Peterborough Manager Darren Ferguson is one name who is being strongly linked and that might be a good appointment for the Royals if they are after a young Manager. Other names in the frame include Gareth Southgate who is looking for a way back in to football after leaving Middlesbrough recently, another name could be Jim Magilton who has left QPR in difficult circumstances and may want to get straight back on the bike.
