Avram Grant Odds On To be Next Premier League Manager To Be Sacked

Paul Smith by Paul Smith / 17 December 2010, 09:29

Once again the pressure is piling on Avram Grant at West Ham with reports suggesting that the Hammers must win at least one of the next three games if he is to have any chance of keeping his job, the board at West Ham have so far backed the Manager but they are only too aware that only one team has survived in the Premier League having been bottom at Christmas. The Hammers play Blackburn and Fulham away next while the last of the three games will be at home against Everton and could be crucial for Grant as he looks to take the team up the table, the club have had a number of injuries this season and the squad have been un able to cope with just 12 points to their name from the first 17 games.

Avram Grant has not spent a single day as a Manager outside of the Premier League relegation zone since leaving Chelsea in 2008; he had an ill fated spell at Portsmouth before leaving and now finds himself in the same situation at Upton Park. The bookies have been watching developments very closely at West Ham and following the reports this weekend the price about Grant to be the Next Premier League Manager to be Sacked has been slashed, the Israeli finds himself the odds on favourite in the market and in these cases the odds very rarely lie. The new owners came in last season and were quick to get rid of Gianfranco Zola, in hindsight it appears that the little Italian job did a fine job to keep the Hammers in the Premier League and many of the fans at Upton Park would probably love to see him back.

The Sack Race also understands that the future of Grant has become even more uncertain with Sam Allardyce now available following his surprise sacking as Blackburn Manager, Big Sam rescued Rovers from a relegation fight when he took over and he could now be flown in to achieve the same thing at Upton Park. Allardyce may not coach the most attractive style of football but his tactics and fight could prove ideal for a struggling West Ham team whilst trying to extract the best from Carlton Cole over the second half of the season. It spells more trouble from Avram Grant who has failed to inspire West Ham since taking over in the summer, he is widely considered the nice man of football but his record in the Premier League is mixed at best and he could be out of the door before the New Year unless there is a dramatic upturn in form.
