Paul Clement's Derby County favourites for promotion up to the Premier Leagueby Jack Kitson / 17 July 2015, 10:05Tweet
Paul Clement will be tasked with leading Derby County up to the Premier League in his first season at the iPro Stadium. The former Real Madrid assistant replaced Steve McClaren in the Rams dugout last month, as he ventured into the managerial arena for the first time.
Clement will no doubt be given time to prove himself, but the unforgiving nature of the Championship means he will be expected to get off to a strong start, especially if the Rams are going to realise their promotion dreams.
Derby County were right in the mix for automatic promotion for the majority of last season, before the club inexplicably faltered at the end, missing out on the play-offs on the final day of the season. McClaren was subsequently shown the exit door, with Clement lured over to the East Midlands as his replacement.
Derby have been installed as the ante-post 5/2 favourites (Bet Victor) to end eight years of hurt and finally win promotion back up to the top-flight, while they have also been installed as the 6/1 frontrunners (Betfred) to hoist the Championship title come the end of the 2015/16 campaign.
Middlesbrough will be bidding to lift themselves following last season's play-off final heartache, which saw the club's promotion hopes dashed after they lost 2-0 to Norwich. Boss Aitor Karanka enjoyed a cracking first full season in charge, and he'll be looking for his troops to put last term's painful finale behind them, and storm back in 2015/16.
Boro have been handed odds of 3/1 (Bet365) to win promotion to the Promised Land, alongside Hull City, who will be tasked with bouncing back following last season's surprise relegation.
Wolves, who missed out on the top-6 on goal difference, also feature towards the summit of the market, while the likes of Burnley, Brentford and QPR are well worth keeping an eye on.
