Leyton Orient Confirm Ian Hendon Sackingby Jack Kitson / 18 January 2016, 10:38Tweet
Leyton Orient have officially confirmed the sacking of head coach Ian Hendon, two days after the news first surfaced. On Saturday numerous reports revealed that the League Two outfit had sent Hendon packing, however the 11th-placed club remained tight-lipped until this morning (Monday).
Hendon, who took charge at Brisbane Road in the summer, oversaw a bright start to life with the O's - winning his first five league games - however, a poor run of just four victories from their following 21 games, including Saturday's 3-1 defeat at home to Exeter, has cost him his job.
Orient have placed assistant manager Andy Hessenthaler in temporary charge, with the 50-year-old also emerging as the 5/2 favourite (Sky Bet) to land the job on a permanent basis. Other names in the mix at this early stage include Mark Cooper, Andy Scott and Kit Symons, while Paolo Di Canio is priced at 10/1.
