Didier Deschamps delivers calm yet passionate team talk during France's World Cup Final triumphby Jack Kitson / 19 July 2018, 09:51Tweet
The ubiquitous nature of social media means we gain previously unimaginable access into the daily lives of football players, managers, and the running of clubs, however rarely do we get to see what happens behind closed doors during the interval.
Incredible footage has been released of France’s World Cup winning boss Didier Deschamps delivering his half-time teamtalk during Les Bleus’ Final clash with Croatia last Sunday.
France were winning 2-1 at the time, but went on to triumph 4-2 and lift the golden trophy for the second time in the country’s history.
Deschamps, who lifted the World Cup as a player 20 years ago, was cool, calm and collected, yet brimming with passion as he told his players to be wary of the threat of Croatia striker Mario Mandzukic, and to keep things simple when in possession of the ball.
Penalty scorer Antoine Griezmann was instructed to drop back and get more involved in the action, while if any members of the team were to find themselves in trouble, they were ordered to pass the ball to Kylian Mbappe!
The teenage sensation, 19, would go on to bag France’s fourth and final goal of the game.
Before sending his troops back out for the second-half, Deschamps would end with the passage:
“45 minutes! You know what’s next!
“Keep your heads up! Loosen up!
“When you get the ball, boom! Give it forward!
