Nottingham Forest leave fans in the dark during search for Philippe Montanier's replacementby Jack Kitson / 20 January 2017, 11:55Tweet
A cloud of confusion hovers dismally over the City Ground as managerless Nottingham Forest prepare for their first match without Philippe Montanier, who was sacked last weekend.
Absolutely no one seems to have the faintest idea who will replace the Frenchman.
Not the owners, nor the fans (who have appallingly been left in the dark), or even the bookmakers.
All we’ve got to go off is a standard club statement (see bottom of article), which in truth revealed absolutely nothing.
Although we may perhaps find out more this afternoon when interim manager Gary Brazil meets the media…but probably not, this is Forest and Fawaz Al-Hasawi we are talking about.
A plethora of managers have leapt in-and-out of contention the Next Nottingham Forest Market, while other gaffers have had a fixed spot in the top cluster of names, yet nearly a week after Montanier was shown the exit door, the struggling club appears no closer to appointing a new boss at this pivotal stage of the season.
The almost comical eeriness of the unknown means that even local legend Robin Hood is dominating the next manager poll…
Just who on earth will be the next Nottingham Forest manager? (comment for other) #NFFC— The Sack Race (@thesackrace) January 20, 2017
At the time of writing it’s caretaker manager Gary Brazil, 54, who leads the way at 2/1 at the top of the market.
Academy manager Brazil, a former Notts County boss, previously spent nine games in caretaker charge of Forest back in 2014, winning just twice.
It’s not known whether he wants the job on a permanent basis, but he’ll bolster his chances should Forest carve out their first win in nine on Saturday when the Reds do battle with a similarly out-of-form Bristol City, and their under-pressure boss Lee Johnson.
Nigel Pearson, Billy Davies, Gary Rowett, and Nigel Clough are all still hovering in the mix, while Ryan Giggs can be backed at 16/1.
