Scunthorpe Sack Brian Lawsby Jack Kitson / 20 November 2013, 14:53Tweet
Brian Laws has become the first managerial casualty of November after Scunthorpe United sent him packing. The Iron may only be two points adrift of the League Two play-offs but the owners have decided to make a change in the dugout after five games without a win in all competitions, which included a dismal defeat to local rivals Grimsby in the FA Cup.
Laws took charge of the North Lincolnshire club for the third time last October but failed to keep them in League One as they suffered relegation down to the fourth-tier. They enjoyed a decent start to the new season, losing just one of their opening 10 games. However, they have picked up just one point from their last three league games, while Tuesday's 2-1 loss at home to non-league side Grimsby proved to be the final straw.
The Next Scunthorpe Manager Market is wide open at the moment, with the likes of Danny Wilson, Steve Housham, Nick Barmby and Russ Wilcox all in the mix at this early stage. Sky Bet currently have Wilson as the 5/1 favourite to replace Laws. The former Iron player has been out-of-work since leaving Sheffield United in April, but could now be set for a return to the management arena.
