Antonio Conte under pressure at Chelseaby Jack Kitson / 20 September 2016, 09:35Tweet
Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is already under pressure at Chelsea, despite recording 10 points from his opening five Premier League games.
According to The Daily Express Blues owner Roman Abramovich is fuming at the club’s 2-1 defeat at home to Liverpool last week - Conte’s first loss since his summer arrival at the Bridge.
The Russian billionaire reportedly held talks with Chelsea executives late into the night following the limp loss to Jurgen Klopp’s Reds, who in truth looked by far the better team, much to Abramovich’s frustration.
Abramovich, who has blitzed through a whopping nine managers during his time at Chelsea, demands the very best from his gaffers, and his disapproval at the Blues’ below-par performance last Friday has placed a bit of early pressure on the shoulders of Conte, although he's still out at 66/1 in the Sack Race.
Conte and Chelsea will be bidding to bounce back tonight (Tuesday) when they lock horns with Leicester in the EFL Cup. The Blues head up to the Midlands as the 11/10 favourites (Betfred) to return to the capital with the win, while hosts Leicester can be backed at 11/4 (Betway).
Next up in the league is a crunch clash with London rivals Arsenal at the Emirates on Saturday evening. Both clubs are currently locked on 10 points, and will each be desperate for the win to ensure they don’t lose further ground on early leaders Man City.
