Aldershot Town Dismiss Dean Holdsworthby Jack Kitson / 21 February 2013, 09:08Tweet
Aldershot Town have fired Dean Holdsworth following a poor run of results. Despite leading the club to a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Torquay, seven points from seven games has resulted in the former Wimbledon star losing his job. He leaves the Shots struggling down in 20th in League Two, just two points above the relegation zone.
It has not been a good week to be a Holdsworth, with Dean's brother David losing his job at Lincoln City on Sunday. Aldershot's owners have revealed that they are looking for a quick appointment, with the aim to have a new manager in place by Saturday. The odds will be displayed on the following link when they become available: Next Aldershot Manager Market.
Holdsworth took charge of the Shots in January 2011 and led them to a respectable 14th place finish at the end of the campaign. He enjoyed a successful full season in charge after he guided the club to 11th in the table last year, which was only six points off a prized play-off spot. However, this season has been a different story with the club spending the majority of it embroiled in a relegation scrap.
