Dick Advocaat to decide on Sunderland futureby Jack Kitson / 21 May 2015, 08:42Tweet
Dick Advocaat is set to make a decision on his Sunderland future next week after saving the club from the dreaded drop down to the Championship. The Dutchman, known as the "Little General", shed tears of joy when the final whistle echoed around the Emirates stadium, as the Black Cats registered the valuable point that preserves their Premier League status.
Back in March Advocaat was handed a short-term contract at the Stadium of Light following the sacking of Gus Poyet. The former Netherlands boss has since steered the club to three wins, three draws and two defeats, which has been enough to fend of relegation.
It's not known whether Advocaat will prolong his stay in the North East, meaning Sunday's game away to champions Chelsea could be his final fixture in charge. Sky Bet's "Sunderland Manager on the 1st day of next season" market (see below) reveals that the 67-year-old is the odds-on 5/6 favourite, followed by Sam Allardyce at 3/1, whereas Paul Clement can be backed at 9/2.
Sunderland Manager on the 1st day of next season:
- 5/6 Dick Advocaat
- 3/1 Sam Allardyce
- 9/2 Paul Clement
- 16/1 Michael Laudrup
- 18/1 Steve McClaren
