Former Man City manager Manuel Pellegrini linked with Leicester City

It's quickly become evident that since sacking Craig Shakespeare the Leicester City hierarchy simply have no idea who to replace him with.

A hoard of managers have been linked with the Premier League's newest vacancy, including the likes of Sean Dyche, Sam Allardyce, Chris Coleman, Alan Pardew, and even Claude Puel, while Manuel Pellegrini has become the latest boss be propelled to the top of the Next Leicester Manager Market.

Sackings are often the result of poor recruitment in the managerial search process, especially when a club has made a knee-jerk decision. It's therefore crucial that Leicester simply don't employ a "high-profile boss" for the sack of it - as has been suggested - but a gaffer who fits the profile of the club.

At the time of writing it's difficult to envision Dyche leaving Burnley for Leicester. The 46-year-old is currently the Premier League's second-longest serving manager, behind Arsene Wenger, and while did say this week: “I’m quite open-minded about what comes next with Burnley. Beyond that, who knows? It’s hypothetical. One day it will change, in my control or out of my control. It’s the nature of football," a switch from Turf Moor to the King Power looks unlikely.

However, should a vacancy crop up at Everton, where Ronald Koeman is under pressure, his head may well be turned (he's 6/1 in the betting).

Earlier this week former Borussia Dortmund boss Thomas Tuchel ruled himself out of contention, stating he wants to join a "bigger club". Meanwhile, Big Sam appears to have his sights set on becoming the new manager of the United States, whereas Carlo Ancelotti is reportedly not interested.

Wales boss Chris Coleman is definitely worth keeping an eye on, but he could well decide to stay on have a crack at leading the country's "Golden Generation" to another European Championship.

One interesting name in the frame is Manuel Pellegrini who on Friday night was slashed from a 25/1 outsider to the 3/1 favourite in the betting.

Since leaving Man City 18 months ago Pellegrini has frequently been linked with a return to these shores - Crystal Palace, Southampton and West Ham to name a few.

At the moment the 2013/14 Premier League winning boss is over in China with Super League side Hebei China Fortune, with whom he's been with since August 2016, but he could be open to the possibility of jetting back to England.

For the time time being caretaker boss Michael Appleton (14/1) takes charge of Leicester for their trip to Swansea this afternoon (Saturday), with the Foxes looking to record their first win in seven league games.
