Steve McClaren Under Huge Pressure At QPR After Fourth Defeat Of Championship Campaignby Steve Chambers / 22 August 2018, 12:50Tweet
Steve McClaren watched in dismay as his Queens Park Rangers side lost 3-0 to Bristol City in the Championship last night, and defeat for the Hoops has kept them at the foot of the table, with many R's fans calling for the manager to be sacked.
Defeats to Preston North End and Sheffield United in the first two matches saw the west London start on the wrong foot, but it was their 7-1 defeat to West Bromwich Albion at the weekend that had many questioning whether McClaren was the right man for the job, as he only joined Rangers in May after Ian Holloway departed last night.
However, a brace from Andreas Weimann and a third goal from Matty Taylor handed Bristol City - who had failed to win a game all season - the three points, and the end of the game was met with a chorus of boos reverberating around the ground with the Robins fans mocking their adversaries with a chant towards McClaren saying "You're getting sacked in the morning."
McClaren, who once reached the dizzy heights of managing England, was stoic in his response to another harrowing defeat, and will now focus his attentions on Saturday's weekend clash with Wigan Athletic, but having masterminded Rangers worst start to a season then the veteran manager could well be on his way out soon if things don't change.
Queens Park Rangers have lost all four games, conceded 13 goals and only scored twice in what is a dreadful start to the campaign, but can McClaren turn it around in the next couple of games, as if he fails to deliver the goods then his short tenure could be coming to an end, and the Hoops are looking for a new manager to try and avoid a relegation battle this season.
Is Steve McClaren still the right man for the job?
