Redknapp Wary of Leeds Threat in FA Cupby Mick Bates / 22 January 2010, 15:40Tweet
Harry Redknapp will be desperate to see his Spurs side put up a good performance against Leeds in the FA Cup this weekend as he looks to pick his team up following their poor performance against Liverpool in the week, most pundits were expecting Tottenham to go for Liverpool on Wednesday but they succumbed in feeble fashion to lose the initiative in the Champions League race. Redknapp was bitterly disappointed with his sides performance on Wednesday and he will be only too aware of the potential banana skin that awaits them when Leeds turn up at White Hart Lane in the FA cup 4th Round tie. He will know that Leeds are a real threat with in-form striker Jermain Beckford banging in the goals at the moment for the yorkshre side and Spurs and Redknapp in particular can ill-afford to slip up at home.
Leeds produced the shock of the Third Round when they went to Old Trafford and came away with a 1-0 win in a classic David v Goliath encounter, Manager Simon Grayson was delighted with that result and he will be urging his players to produce the same level of effort when they take on Spurs. Against Liverpool, Spurs looked somewhat toothless without Aaron Lennon in the team but they should still have enough to get past the League One leaders, a defeat for Spurs is likely to see some pressure come on Harry in the Next Premier League Manager To be Sacked Betting.
At the moment the bookies do not believe he is as safe as he should be considering their league position, Spurs have become a sacking club in recent years and with tax allegations hanging above his head he is not totally secure in his seat at White Hart Lane. Redknapp has spent a lot of money since taking charge just over a year ago and the fans and board will want results and a good FA Cup run would be the ideal way to show the club is progressing, although Harry Redknapp has made it clear that the Champions League pursuit is the priority for Spurs for the remainder of the season.
