Ian Holloway new favourite in Premier League Sack Raceby Jack Kitson / 22 October 2013, 12:15Tweet
Ian Holloway is in grave danger of becoming the second victim of the Premier League Sack Race after his Crystal Palace side were thumped 4-1 at home by Fulham. The under-fire boss is locked in crisis talks with the club’s owners having endured a torrid time back in the Premier League.
The London club have just three points on the board, from a possible 24, with Monday’s defeat to the Cottagers their seventh of the season. They got off to the perfect start by taking the lead through Adrian Mariappa in the 7th minute. However, by half-time they found themselves 2-1 down thanks to a Pajtim Kasami wonder goal and a Steve Sidwell stunner. The demoralised hosts then shipped in a further two goals after the break as they slumped to a fifth consecutive defeat.
As a result Holloway can now be found as the new 2/5 (Sky Bet) for the sack. In contrast the pressure has cooled slightly on Fulham boss Martin Jol - now 20/1 - who was clearly ecstatic at a superb result that moved his side up into 14th and three points clear of the relegation zone.
Next up for Palace is a daunting fixture at home to league leaders Arsenal who have taken an impressive 19 points from their last seven games. Palace then come up against the likes of West Brom, Everton, Hull and Norwich in November which will prove to be a decisive month in the club's season.
