Billy Davies Under Pressure At Forest After Tough Start To New Seasonby Richard Smith / 22 September 2010, 08:44Tweet
Billy Davies did a fantastic job last season with Nottingham Forest as he led them to the brink of promotion to the Premier League, after losing out in the play-offs though things have been a lot tough for Davies this season with the team struggling on and off the pitch. Davies decided to stay on at the club to try and take them into the Premier League but with only one loan signing coming into the squad it appears they have failed to take advantage of their good time last season, while all their major rivals for promotion have boosted their numbers significantly.
This has been proved right so far this season with Forest languishing in the bottom half of the Championship table with only eight points from their first seven games and they already find themselves 11 points off of league leaders QPR. Davies has been vocal with his feelings that the current squad is not good enough to win promotion and his long term future at the club has to be in doubt, the bookmakers have been watching the goings on very closely at the City Ground with the Scot featuring heavily in the Next Championship Manager To Be Sacked Betting. Darren Ferguson is at the head of this market but Davies is not far behind with the club sponsor VC Bet.comhaving the Scot as short as 6/1 to be the next Championship gaffer for the high jump.
This trouble follows on from last season when at Christmas they looked good for automatic promotion to the Premier League, Davies though was understood to be disappointed with their lack of transfer activity in January and they subsequently slipped down into the play-offs and missed their chance at the big time. Forest have everything in place to be a Premier League team with the gates still pretty good at the City Ground but on the pitch they seem to be struggling at the moment leaving Davies with a tough task on his hands. Davies is currently odds on with the club sponsor not to be in charge of the team at the end of the current season, with the market only offering even money on the Scot seeing the season out at Forest.
