Malky Mackay favourite for Fulham vacancyby Jack Kitson / 22 September 2014, 12:17Tweet
Malky Mackay has emerged as the new favourite for the Fulham vacancy after he was spotted in a directors' box at Craven Cottage on Saturday during the club's 1-0 defeat to Blackburn Rovers. The Cottagers, who remain rock-bottom of the Championship, sacked Felix Magath last week following a shocking start to the season. And, while the results may have not yet improved, they have no shortage of options in the Next Fulham Manager Market, with Mackay narrowly leading the way at a best-priced 2/1 with Paddy Power.
Fulham owner Shahid Khan, who has already axed three managers since buying the club in the summer of 2013, has vowed to find the right man to replace Magath, no matter how long it takes. The early signs points to Mackay who is desperate for a return to the dugout, having been out-of-work since December. Earlier in the season the 42-year-old was on the verge of becoming the new Crystal Palace manager, however he failed to land the post after a number of damaging text messages from his time at Cardiff were made public.
Fulham's caretaker manager Kit Symons remains right in the frame at 4/1 with all bookmakers. Meanwhile the out-of-work trio of Chris Hughton, Neil Lennon and Tim Sherwood all follow suit, but former frontrunner Tony Pulis has dropped down the betting to 14/1.
