McInnes & O'Neil head next Dundee United Manager Odds

With the news that Dundee United have allowed Craig Levein to become the next manager of the Scotland team, the search for his replacement at Tannadice can now begin and bookmaker Victor Chandler have opened up the betting odds for who that will be.
At the head of the market are two former Terrors player in Derek McInnes and Michael O'Neil, both of whom are a 4/1 chance, with McInnes believed to be the more favoured of the pair. Having made a total of 74 appearances for United between 2003 and 2006, McInnes left for a short spell at Millwall before heading back north to Scotland and St Johnstone where he took up position as manager whilst still playing for the club when Owen Coyle left to join Burnley. McInnes guided the Saints to the Scottish first division title last season and the team have adjusted well to life in the Scottish Premier League and it could be this experience that sees him move back to Tayside.
Michael ONeil played for Dundee United between 1989 and 1993 and is currently manager League of Ireland Premier Division side, Shamrock Rovers, however, like McInnes he has experience in Scotland after managing Scottish second division side Brechin City prior to his move to Dublin.
Other names being linked to the vacancy include former Cowdenbeath and Hibernian boss, Mixu Paatelainen, as well as current assistant to Craig Levein at Tannadice, Peter Houston.
Whoever takes over from Levein will have their work cut out to carry on from where the former Hearts and Leicester boss has left off with The Terrors sat fourth in the Scottish Premier League, just five points off Celtic in second place.
