Gary Megson Sack Odds Shorten as Bolton Poor Run Continuesby Mark Cohen / 23 November 2009, 10:21Tweet
Gary Megson is under increasing pressure at Bolton this morning after the team suffered yet another loss at home to Lancashire rivals Blackburn on Sunday. Wanderers have been slipping down the table in recent weeks and now there are words of unrest coming from the camp. The defeat to Blackburn was Bolton's fourth successive defeat but the real worry for Wanderers fans will be the style of defeat as they put up virtually no resistance during the match and seemed doomed to defeat from the first whistle to the last.
In the post match interview, Megson admitted that there are a few players behind the scenes at the Reebok Stadium who are unhappy at the club and in turn, that was having a negative affect on the performances on the pitch. The fans will be left wandering who these players are and why they are unhappy. The team are clearly lacking confidence at the moment and if things do not turn around pretty soon then Bolton will be dragged into a relegation fight which will be a real worry to the board at Bolton.
Megson himself has never been the most popular at Bolton since replacing Sammy Lee in 2007 but the fans could tolerate him while the team were performing well but that is likely to change pretty quickly if the fans see another performance like the one on Sunday against Blackburn. Paddy Power have quickly reacted to that defeat by slashing Gary Megson's odds in the Next Premier League Manager To Be Sacked Odds and he is now as short as 6/1 to be next for the chop, he is the second favourite at the time of writing only behind under fire Hull city boss Phil Brown.
