Hartlepool and Dave Jones part waysby Jack Kitson / 24 April 2017, 10:16Tweet
Struggling League Two outfit Hartlepool United have sacked manager Dave Jones after Saturday's 2-0 home defeat to Barnet saw the club slip into the relegation zone with two games to play.
Pools have decided to make their second sacking of the season - Craig Hignett was axed in January - replacing Jones with Matthew Bates, Billy Payner and Stuart Parnaby until the end of the season.
The sacking comes after Gillete Soccer Saturday host Jeff Stelling had an on air rant in the aftermath of Hartlepool's 21st league defeat of the season, in which he ordered Jones to leave.
In the end Jones latest just 17 games in the dugout, registering only three wins and 13 points from a possible 51, while he leaves the club without a win since mid-March.
Over the weekend Leyton Orient's 112-year stay in the Football League came to an end following a 3-0 defeat to Crawley, while Hartlepool fans will now be fearing the worst with their club two points adrift of safety with two games to go.
