Gary Bowyer's future up in the air at Blackburn Roversby Jack Kitson / 24 August 2015, 10:34Tweet
Gary Bowyer's future at Blackburn Rovers remains up in the air, despite the club rubbishing reports that he'd been sacked. In the aftermath of Saturday's defeat at Brighton rumours were rife that the 44-year-old had been shown his marching orders, however the Lancashire outfit insist that this was not the case.
- Blackburn are winless in five league & cup matches this season.
- Bowyer has been in charge of the club since 2013.
Rovers have endured a poor start to the season, picking up just two points from their opening two games, leaving them third from bottom of the Championship. The club's failure to carve out a win will be extremely concerning for fans, whose side is now priced at 5/1 (Sky Bet) to be relegated.
On Friday Blackburn and Bowyer, who may not last the week, will be thrown under the spotlight once again, as their crunch clash with local rivals, and fellow strugglers, Bolton is being screened live on Sky Sports.
The Trotters have also had a poor start to the campaign, with Neil Lennon's troops similarly registering just two points so far, however their poorer goal difference means they are a place lower in 23rd.
The early six-pointer will no doubt be a nerve jangling affair, with Rovers installed as the 21/20 favourites (William Hill) to end a week of turmoil by recording their first win, while Bolton have been handed odds of 11/4 (Betfred) to pile more misery onto the hosts, whereas a draw can be found at 13/5 with the same bookmaker.
