Roberto Mancini Early Favourite For LMA Manager Award

Roberto Mancini has been installed as the early 6/4 favourite with Stan James to be named as the 2012/13 LMA Manager of the Year. The Manchester City boss just missed out on the award last season despite leading his side to their first top flight title for 44 years. However, if he captures a second Premier League crown then he will surely get his hands on the prestigious accolade.

As always Sir Alex Ferguson is one of the frontrunners, with Stan James pricing the Manchester United manager at 7/2. The three-time winner of the prize will be gunning to wrestle the title back to the red-half of Manchester following City’s incredible last gasp win in May. Fergie loves a challenge and will no doubt start the mind games off early as he bids to win a 13th Premier League title.

Brendan Rodgers enjoyed an impressive debut season with Swansea and will now look to make a big impact at Liverpool, who finished way down in 8th last campaign. Rodgers will employ an attractive, free-flowing style of football at Anfield but whether the likes of Andy Carroll fit in with his system remain open to debate. If Rodgers can get his side playing his mould of football then he could be a good bet at 10/1 to be named as the top manager.

It will be difficult for Chelsea boss Roberto Di Matteo (12/1) to match his remarkable exploits of last season when, as caretaker manager, he led the Blues to a stunning Champions League and FA Cup double. Now with his future resolved he will be looking for Chelsea to mount a more serious Premier League challenge this campaign. The London side have had their chances bolstered by a few exciting new recruits, including Eden Hazard and Marko Marin, who already appear to be fantastic additions.

Similarly Arsene Wenger (12/1) will be hoping to get his side back challenging for the title, but will most likely have to do without star player Robin van Persie, which is a hammer blow. Arsenal fans will be hoping new signings Olivier Giroud and Lukas Podolski can conjure up something special for the Gunners. Meanwhile if Van Persie does depart then Wenger will need to bring in a marquee signing.

New Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas is also available at 12/1 to be crowned as the LMA Manager of the Year. The Portuguese coach has managed to land another top notch job in the Premier League and will be doubly determined to make up for his disappointment at Chelsea last campaign. Spurs have a strong squad and will have money to spend due to the inevitable departure of star player Luka Modric.

Elsewhere last season’s top boss, Newcastle manager Alan Pardew (14/1), has been able to hold on to his best players, which will boost his chances of winning the award for the second year in the row. Three-time winner David Moyes can also be backed at 14/1, as can the new Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert. Meanwhile Roberto Martinez, Nigel Adkins and Steve Clarke are all long shots at 33/1.
