Nottingham Forest reportedly set to sack Billy Davies with Neil Warnock waiting in the wingsby Jack Kitson / 24 March 2014, 10:05Tweet
Nottingham Forest have sacked manager Billy Davies, with the former Notts County boss Neil Warnock reportedly set to take over. The 49-year-old has departed the City Ground for the second time after his 13 month spell came to an end.
Forest’s Kuwaiti owner, Fawaz Al Hasawi, has lost faith in Davies, who signed a new four-year deal back in October. If the speculation has any truth to it then Warnock could now be at the helm in time for Forest's match at home to Charlton on Tuesday, and in the process become the club’s fifth manager since the Al Hasawis took over less than two years ago.
The news comes after Saturday's disastrous 5-0 drubbing at the hands of East Midlands rivals Derby County, a result which saw Forest slip out of the play-off spots down into seventh, and now two points adrift the top-six. The devastating defeat follows an abysmal run of form, with free-falling Forest now eight games without a win in all competitions - a shocking sequence which includes an FA Cup upset to League One side Sheffield United.
