Crawley Town Turn Their Interest To John Pemberton

Managerless Crawley Town have reportedly set their sights on Sheffield United academy director John Pemberton after Dean Holdsworth turned them down. 47-year-old Pemberton has been installed as the surprise favourite with SkyBet for the vacancy, as The Red's search for a replacement for Sean O'Driscoll continues.
On Tuesday news broke that hot favourite Holdsworth had rejected an approach from Crawley, opting to remain at current club Aldershot Town. As a result The Reds are believed to have transferred their interest to Pemberton, which may come as a surprise to many supporters. The former Blades defender has limited managerial experience having only briefly acted as Nottingham Forest's caretaker boss in 2009. He is currently working as an academy manager at United and was credited with orchestrating their impressive run to the Youth FA Cup final in 2011.
Wycombe Wanderers boss Gary Waddock remains next in the running in the Next Crawley Town Manager Odds, with Cheltenham Town gaffer Mark Yates and Gareth Southgate also in the mix. Meanwhile Crawley face Championship side Millwall in a friendly at Broadfield Stadium on Saturday, by which time they would have hoped to have appointed a new manager.
