Martin Jol clinging on to Fulham jobby Jack Kitson / 25 November 2013, 09:29Tweet
Martin Jol is on the brink of the sack after Fulham fell to their fifth consecutive defeat over the weekend. The under-fire boss watched in despair as the Cottagers crumbled at home to Swansea on Saturday, with the final whistle greeted by a fiery cauldron of boos and cries of "Jol Out".
The 2-1 defeat was their eighth in the league this season subsequently leaves the London outfit struggling down in the relegation zone in 18th. As a result Jol can now be find at just 1/3 with Sky Bet in the Premier League Sack Race, while his nearest competitors, Chris Hughton and Andre Villas-Boas, are some way back at 8/1.
On Saturday Fulham face a crunch clash away to London rivals West Ham, with only goal difference separating the two sides in the table. However, it is highly possible that the Dutchman may have been shown the door by the match. Meanwhile a defeat at Upton Park will definitely spell the end for Jol.
Reports are rife that Cottagers coach Rene Meulensteen could be set to make the step up and take charge should Jol depart. The former Man Utd coach, who recently arrived at Craven Cottage, is currently the hot 6/5 frontrunner with Stan James in the Next Fulham Manager Market, while Roberto Di Matteo can be found at 3/1.
