Martin O'Neill New Favourite In Premier League Sack Race

Martin O'Neill has been installed as the new bookmakers' favourite for the chop following an eventful week in the Premier League Sack Race. The under-fire Sunderland gaffer is currently skating on thin ice, with the Black Cats winning just two of their last 20 league matches. O'Neill's future was shredded in doubt on Saturday after a number of reports claimed that he had offered to resign following the 4-2 defeat at home to West Brom. However, the club were quick to rubbish the rumours and he remains in the dugout...for the time being.
The Next Premier League Manager To Be Sacked betting market exploded into life on Wednesday when Chelsea’s Roberto Di Matteo surprisingly became the first casualty of the new season. Just two days later Mark Mughes became the second boss to lose his job after struggling QPR sent him packing.
O’Neill is approaching his first anniversary as Sunderland manager having taken charge of the club last year on December 3rd. He went on to lead the Black Cats to a 13th place finish but has endured a disappointing start to his first full season in charge. The club have won only two of their opening 12 games, leaving them down in 16th place and just two points above the drop zone.
O’Neill now faces a huge match at home to QPR on Tuesday night, which will also be Harry Redknapp's first match in charge of rock-bottom Rangers. Paddy Power have installed the hosts as the 6/5 favourite to claim their first win at the Stadium of Light since September, while QPR can be backed at 12/5 to get off to a winning start under Redknapp, with a draw priced at 9/4.
