Celtic's Ronny Deila suffering in SPL Sack Raceby Jack Kitson / 27 August 2014, 10:18Tweet
The pressure has come flooding back on the shoulders of Celtic manager Ronny Deila after the Hoops crashed out of the Champions League following a disappointing 1-0 defeat at home to Slovenian outfit NK Maribor. The loss means that the Scottish giants have missed out on joining Europe's elite in the competition’s main draw, and will instead have to settle for a Europa League place.
The Bhoys are now without a win in three matches, which includes two defeats on the spin. The under-fire Deila is no doubt hugely concerned about his future at the club, having now lost four of his nine competitive games since his shock appointment back in June, which is simply unacceptable for a club of Celtic's stature. In turn the Norwegian is in a very vulnerable position in the SPL Sack Race, with Bet Victor cutting his odds from 12/1 down to the 2/1 favourite in the betting.
A shock defeat away to Inverness last weekend leaves Celtic down in 5th in the table, although they have a game in hand on their rivals. The defending SPL champions travel to 6th-placed Dundee on Sunday desperate for the three points, however a third consecutive defeat could prove to be the end for Deila at Parkhead.
