Which manager in the Premier League will be shown the door next?by Mick Bates / 27 January 2015, 09:47Tweet
Currently there are three managers that the bookies are keeping an eye on in the next Premier Manager to be sacked betting market; making up the list are QPR boss Harry Redknapp, Hull City's Steve Bruce and Paul Lambert from Aston Villa. We take a look at each of the managers and assess their chances of survival, adding as many football clich'es as we can along the way, we also throw it open to our readers as to who they think will be next in the sack race in our poll below:
Next Manager to leave poll
Who from our selection do you think will be looking for a new club next?
Harry Redknapp - Queens Park Rangers
Old 'arry is no stranger to the managerial merry-go-round and he currently heads the betting to be the next manager to depart at odds of just 5/4, at the start of the year he was relatively safe at odds of 11/1 but with QPR not winning so far in 2015 it is little surprise to find Harry under fire.
Earlier this month there were rumours circulating that a defeat to Manchester United in the FA Cup would spell the end of his tenure with the club but chairman Tony Fernandes has spoken up and said that he will be sticking behind his manager, however we must be reminded that Tony did say the same when Mark Hughes was under pressure in 2012 and two weeks later he was handed his p45!
Current safety rating - On thin ice, our tip to be sacked next
Steve Bruce - Hull City
Things looked to be improving for Hull boss Steve Bruce over the Christmas period with two wins in a week but that last victory on New Years Day has been followed by two successive defeats leaving the club in the relegation zone and placing the manager at odds of 11/4 to be sacked next.
The next seven games are make or break for Bruce although this run does include an away trip to Manchester City they will also be up against fellow strugglers Aston Villa, QPR, Sunderland and Leicester, failure to pick up points here could see the club looking to find an alternative manager whereas success from these fixtures could propel the club to mid-table safety
Current safety rating - Clinging on, easy run should help Steve out.
Paul Lambert - Aston Villa
A name that has been around the top of next manager to be sacked betting for a while now has been troubled Villa boss Paul Lambert.
Lambert's main problem has been Villa's lack of goals this season, the Midlands club have notched up just 11 league goals so far this season from 22 games, nine less than bottom club Leicester City. The last time they scored in the Premier League was back on 20th December during their 1-1 draw with Manchester United thanks to Christian Benteke.
In Lambert's favour he does have the backing of Villa owner Randy Lerner however fans of the club recently held a protest over the eight years the American has owned the club for and during recent games there has been a vocal "we want Lambert out" chant.
The next two games for Villa will only add more pressure on Lambert as they face the tough challenge that is Arsenal and Chelsea, if Lambert can survive those matches then he will be facing a relegation dogfight against strugglers Hull & local rivals Leicester
Current safety rating: - Secure, has the ability of Steve Kean to hold onto a job
