Pep Guardiola to Manchester City rumours propelled back into the limelightby Jack Kitson / 27 July 2015, 10:34Tweet
Just when Manuel Pellegrini thought he was getting a little bit of peace and quiet ahead of the new season...the rumours linking Pep Guardiola to Man City have been propelled back into the limelight, less than two weeks ahead of the new season.
In football's worst kept secret in City's billionaire owners are desperate to lure Guardiola to the Etihad next summer. The former Barcelona boss is in his final year at current club Bayern Munich, and it's widely expected that he'll jet over to the Premier League ahead of the 2016/17 season, with the latest reports claiming that the Spaniard has already agreed terms to take over.
Pellegrini, whose own contract expires next June, is currently bidding to recover from a trophyless 2014/15 campaign, in which City flunked in the league, Europe and both domestic cups. However, City have shown their intent ahead of the new term by splashing out 44million on Raheem Sterling, while the likes of Paul Pogba and Kevin De Bruyne continue to be linked with a move to the blue half of Manchester.
The Citizens head into the rapidly approaching new season priced at 11/4 with most major bookmakers to reclaim the Premier League trophy, although it's holders Chelsea who top the betting at just 13/8. City can be backed at 7/1 and 6/1 in the FA Cup and League Cup (both Bet365), while they are out at 16/1 to stun the rest of Europe by hoisting the Champions League trophy next May.
