Nigel Adkins propelled to the summit of the Next Sheffield United Manager Market

Nigel Adkins has been installed as the new odds-on favourite for the Sheffield United job after replacing former frontrunner Phil Parkinson at the summit of the market. The former Southampton boss has been amongs the leading candidates for the post since Nigel Clough was axed on Monday, but he now leads the way outright at just 1/4 with Sky Bet.
Adkins has been out of the managerial arena since losing his job at Reading back in December. Life at the Royals may not have worked out for the 50-year-old, however he remains an attractive prospect to any Football League side, given his immense achievements with Southampton. Adkins spent just under two-and-a-half years in charge of the Saints, during which he orchestrated back-to-back promotions up to the Premier League, before harshly losing his job in January 2013.
Meanwhile, Bradford boss Parkinson has drifted out to a best-priced 7/2 (Bet Victor), whereas; MK Dons gaffer Karl Robinson, Brentford's soon to be departed gaffer Mark Warburton, and Burton Albion's promotion winning manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, all remain in the frame in what is proving to be an exciting market.
