Carlo Ancelotti is reportedly keen to manage Liverpoolby Jack Kitson / 28 May 2015, 10:27Tweet
According to reports from the (ever reliable...) red top newspapers Carlo Ancelotti has set his sights on becoming the Next Liverpool Manager. Earlier in the week the Italian harshly, but albeit unsurprisingly given the club's infamous trigger-happy nature, lost his job at Real Madrid, a year to the day after he led the Spanish giants to a landmark 10th 'La Decima'.
Ancelotti's sudden availability has subsequently ignited a scramble for his signature, with a return to the Premier League potentially on the cards. The 55-year-old previously managed Chelsea for two years, winning the Blues the league and cup double in his first season at the helm, only to suffer the axe a year later.
The Italian went on to win PSG their first league title in 19 years, before becoming only the second manager in history - following Liverpool's Bob Paisley - to win the Champions League on three occasions, after leading Real to a 4-1 win over their Madrid rivals Atletico.
The former AC Milan manager also won the Copa del Rey in the same season, and proceeded to win a stunning 22 consecutive matches earlier this term, however it was all in vain as Real ended the campaign without any major trophies.
What next for Ancelotti?
Well the hugely successful boss remains the favourite for the Man City Job, although Manuel Pellegrini's position at the Etihad looks more secure than it did a few months ago, following a strong end to the season which saw the Citizens win each of their last six games, beating Arsenal to 2nd spot.
Meanwhile, Liverpool could be a potential destination, with the under-fire Reds boss Brendan Rodgers set for crunch talks with the club's American owners. The Ulsterman is in severe danger of being axed following a rotten season, which ended with an abysmal 6-1 thrashing at Stoke.
With this in mind Ancelotti is a tempting bet at 14/1 (Sky Bet) in the Next Liverpool Manager Market, although Jurgen Klopp remains the 6/4 frontrunner.
