Dave Jones In Real Trouble At Sheffield Wednesdayby Jack Kitson / 28 November 2012, 14:46Tweet
Dave Jones is on the rocks at struggling Sheffield Wednesday following a torrid run of five consecutive defeats, including a 4-1 thrashing at home to Watford on Tuesday. The former Cardiff City boss remains defiant that he can turn proceedings around but he will be fully aware that he is rapidly running out of time.
Wednesday enjoyed a bright start to the season, taking seven points from their first three Championship games in between two Capital One Cup victorious. However, their positive opening period was soon forgotten as they then endured a dreadful run of 10 matches without a single win - including six successive defeats.
They managed to record valuable back-to-back wins against relegation rivals Ipswich and Peterborough at the end of the October/early November, which slightly eased the pressure on Jones. But this became a distant memory as they have lost all five of their matches since.
Wednesday are currently second from bottom and two points adrift of safety. The games don't get any easier as they travel to Jones' former club - top of the table Cardiff - on Sunday with odds of 9/2 with Paddy Power to come away with a shock win and 3/1 to escape with a draw.
At the moment only Bet Victor have the Next Sheffield Wednesday Maneger Odds available (see below) with Paul Ince the 6/4 favourite. MK Dons Karl Robinson and former Scotland manager Alex McLeish are two of the other contenders at this early stage.
