Eddie Howe Odds Slashed In Portsmouth Manager Betting

Former Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has had his odds slashed to just 2/1 as he becomes one of the favourites in the Next Portsmouth Manager Betting. The Burnley boss, who briefly played for Portsmouth during his playing career, is widely regarded as one of the most talented young managers in The Football League. Portsmouth have been on the hunt for a new manager since Steve Cotterill departed for Bristol City earlier this month and they are reportedly sifting through 50 applications for the job, a massive number considering that just 18 months ago the club was in danger of going out of business.
Pompey have managed to win two of their three games since Cotterill's departure as their league form starts to improve. Guy Whittingham and Stuart Gray have been put in temporary charge but both have ruled themselves out of taking over on a permanent basis. As 33-year-old Howe emerges as a surprise candidate for the job the betting remains very open with a number of candidates in the frame. Before joining Burnley in January 2010, Howe had successfully guided Bournemouth into a play-off position with a small squad and tiny funds, and he reportedly craves a return to the south coast. However, he has only been at Burnley for nine months and it is unknown whether he would leave his job there after such a short time.
Other possible successors include Sean O'Driscoll, Dave Jones and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Priced at 2/1 O'Driscoll has always been in the running for the job, as has former Southampton manager Jones, who can be found with odds of 4/1. At 9/2 former Manchester United striker Solskjaer may be an option as he aims to make his mark as a manager in English football. Other potential candidates include Mark Robins and Mark McGhee who are both available at 10/1.
