Nigel Pearson Set To Be Appointed New Hull City Managerby Mick Bates / 29 June 2010, 09:29Tweet
Hull City appear to have finally settled on a new Manager with Nigel Pearson set to be appointed as the new Boss at the KC Stadium within the nest 48 hours, the Leicester City Manager has reportedly agreed terms to head north in somewhat of a surprise move. Various Managers have been linked with Hull since the end of the season with the likes of Paul Hart and Steve Cotterill all mentioned with regard to the job, in the end though it is Pearson who is ready to take on a big challenge. Hull were relegated last season back to the Championship and are struggling financially so it will not be an easy task for Pearson, the wage bill will have to be trimmed with many of the teams best players heading out of the exit door.
Pearson has done a cracking job at Leicester since taking over a couple of years ago, he first led them to promotion to the Championship before taking the Foxes into the Championship Play-Offs at the first time of asking, those achievements have not gone unnoticed and have earned him a chance at Hull. some may consider that that a move to Hull is a sideways step for Pearson though, it is true to say that Hull were a Premier League Club last season but the club are not in the best state and he will have a tough task on his hands if he wants to take them straight back up. It is a big gamble from Pearson but he clearly believes that Hull have more potential as a club than Leicester which will be a real worry for Leicester fans.
Pearson will be under pressure right from the first game at Hull as he looks to take the Tigers straight back to the Premier League, the team were woeful last season in relegation and he will need to arrest that decline before getting the team back to winning ways. Most of the big names from the Premier League are likely to be on their way so Pearson will have to use all of his knowledge at this level if he is to build a squad strong enough to be competing at the top end of the table.
Leicester meanwhile are now starting their search for a new Manager with Milan Mandaric already stating that no Manager is bigger that Leicester City as a Football Club. Leicester have come on leaps and bounds in recent months and they will once again wanting to be pushing for promotion this season, there will be no shortage of Managers interested in the role so it will be worth keeping an eye on developments in the Midlands over the next couple of weeks.
