A win at the weekend for Avram Grant keeps his job safe, for now

<Avram Grant breathed a big sigh of relief at the weekend after his side West Ham managed to beat fellow strugglers Wigan 3-1 at the weekend. This excellent score line and good performance of the back line will also be good news for defensive coach Wally Downes who was brought into the West Ham coaching staff last week.
The win has helped to ease the pressure that manager Avram Grant was under. His odds on being the next Premier League manager to be sacked have changed marginally from 8/11 to 5/6.
The game was being billed as the match that would save West Ham's season and the win has given the Hammers their second only win of the Premier League season. The much needed three points still leaves West Ham at the bottom of the Premier League table although only goal difference with with Wolves and just 2 points behind Wigan.
However this elation could soon change come Tuesday evening when West Ham welcome league leaders Manchester United to Upton Park for a Carling Cup clash. For this game the bookmakers Bet 365 are offering odds of 4/1 for a win for the Hammers, with the draw at 13/5 and the expected away win for Manchester United at odds of 8/11.
A win in the Carling Cup although it may actually be a distraction for Avram Grant, who would much rather be getting points in the Premier League could help boost morale amongst the West Ham side and keep them in good form for their next Premier League clash against Sunderland on Sunday 5th December.
