Andre Villas Boas reinstalled as the bookmakers favourite for the sack

Andre Villas-Boas once again finds himself as the dreaded favourite at the top of the Premier League Sack Race market following the departure of Martin Jol, who was axed by Fulham on Sunday. The Tottenham boss can now be found at 5/2 with Sky Bet, while Stan James have him priced at just evens to be the next top-flight manager to exit.
AVB has come under immense pressure of late following a combination of on-field and off-field problems. Spurs are currently without a league win in four games, with their last victory coming at home to Hull back in October. Their poor form has seen them plummet down the table to 9th, and 10 points adrift of league leaders Arsenal.
In the aftermath of their creditable 2-2 draw at home to Man Utd on Sunday AVB let rip at a couple of Daily Mail reporters who had criticised his past achievements in the dugout and also slammed his integrity. Meanwhile he also fired back at the former Tottenham chairman Lord Sugar who had questioned his tactics.
On Wednesday Spurs travel to London rivals Fulham, who are themselves without a win in five league games. In fact the Cottagers have lost six successive matches in all competitions, although they may be rejuvenated following the instant appointment of Rene Meulensteen. If Spurs do lose then AVB really will be on the rocks, meaning he could be gone by the weekend.
