Pep Clotet new favourite for Leeds vacancy

The race to become the Next Leeds Manager has taken another twist after Pep Clotet replaced Aitor Karanka at the summit of the market.

Former Middlesbrough boss Karanka had been as short as 1/5 to return to the dugout with the Whites, who were left managerless late last month after Garry Monk decided he would not be activating a one-year contract extension.

However, Spaniard Karanka has been catapulted back out to 4/1 in the betting following a flurry of bets on Clotet who is now as short as 4/7 (previously 12/1) to step up from his role as assistant manager at Elland Road.

Monk named Clotet as his second in command shortly after taking charge of Leeds last summer, and while boss Monk has since left, Clotet is believed to be keen to extend his stay at the club, and this could now be as head coach.

Clotet has previously managed in Scandinavia with the likes of Halmstad, Viking and Malmo (assistant), before moving to Spain with Malaga B, then over to the Premier League as an assistant at Swansea.

Elsewhere, Claudio Ranieri and Alan Pardew are still hovering in the mix, while bradford boss Stuart McCall has been slashed from 66/1 down to 20/1.
