Steve Clarke under pressure at rock bottom West Bromby Jack Kitson / 02 September 2013, 11:50Tweet
For the first time in his managerial career Steve Clarke has come under pressure, with West Brom rock-bottom of the Premier League after three disappointing opening matches. The Baggies, who finished 8th last season, have picked up just one point so far - while they have yet to score - which has seen Sky Bet cut Clarke’s odds from 16/1 to 10/1 in the Premier League Sack Race.
The Midlands club have endured a frustrating start to the new season. On the opening day they suffered a last-gasp defeat at home to Arsenal, before coming away from Everton with an uninspiring goalless draw. On Sunday they slipped up at home once again, with Swansea coming away from the Hawthorns with a 2-0 victory.
Their poor results have further highlighted the urgent need for Clarke to bolster his squad on what is sure to be a frantic Transfer Deadline Day. Clarke will then use the valuable time during the international break to meticulously analyse what exactly is going wrong in order to turn things around at the Hawthorns. The Baggies then travel to Fulham on the 14th, followed by Sunderland at home a week later, which will be stamped in the diary as two winnable games.
Meanwhile Bet Victor currently have Ralf Rangnick, Roberto Di Matteo and Roberto Martinez as the 12/1 favourites in the Next West Brom Manager market, whereas Mark Hughes can be found at 16/1.
