Steve Clarke tops Next Leeds United Manager Marketby Jack Kitson / 02 September 2014, 12:29Tweet
According to reports Steve Clarke could be set to end his nine-month hiatus from the dugout by taking charge of Championship outfit Leeds United. The former West Brom boss, who lost his job at the Hawthorns back in December, currently tops the Next Leeds United Manager Market at a best-priced 6/4 with Sky Bet, ahead of the likes of Mark Cooper, Giuseppe Sannino, Simon Grayson and Neil Redfearn, while Oscar Garcia is now out of the running after being named as Watford's new boss.
It is not known whether Clarke is interested in the job, although he will no doubt have concerns over the trigger-happy nature of the controversial Whites owner Massimo Cellino, who has already blitzed through two managers since taking over in April. Clarke's pride will be hurt at recently losing out to Neil Warnock in the running for the Crystal Palace job, but he will still no doubt be itching to return to the managerial arena.
Clarke enjoyed a cracking debut season at the Baggies after impressively leading the Midlands club to an 8th place finish. However, his second campaign at the helm was a different story, although his sacking still came as a surprise to many, especially considering what he had achieved during the previous crusade.
