Arsene Wenger in PSG linkby Jack Kitson / 30 April 2013, 17:04Tweet
According to reports Arsene Wenger is set to sensationally swap London for Paris in the summer and embark on a new chapter with Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain. If the rumours are to be believed then it could trigger a high-profile managerial merry-go-round this summer, with the likes of Carlo Ancelotti, Jose Mourinho, Rafa Benitez and David Moyes all potentially moving in different directions.
If Wenger did end his staggering 17-year tenure with Arsenal and join PSG in his native France, it would leave PSG’s current boss Carlo Ancelotti out of a job. However, with Jose Mourinho rumoured to be leaving Real Madrid, Ancelotti could find himself back in a flash at the Bernabeu. The Italian is the hot bookmakers’ favourite in the Next Real Madrid Market, while Andre Villas-Boas, Michael Laudrup and Rafa Benitez are also in the frame. Meanwhile Mourinho remains the odds-on favourite to return to Stamford Bridge, with Chelsea’s interim boss Rafa Benitez linked with French side AS Monaco.
Arsenal chiefs will be eager to swat away the rumours and persuade Wenger to stay in north London by promising him a hefty transfer kitty this summer so he can significantly bolster his squad ahead of the 2013/14 season. The Frenchman’s current contract expires in the summer of 2014 and there are reports flying around that he could put pen to paper and sign a new deal.
However, if Wenger did leave the Emirates then there will no doubt be a long list of managers eager to succeed him, with David Moyes currently the frontrunner in the Next Arsenal Manager Market. The Everton boss is out of contract at Goodison Park at the end of the season and may look for a new challenge after 11 years on Merseyside. Elsewhere other names in the running include Laudrup, Remi Garde, Joachim Loew and Steve Bould.
