Luton Town Looking For Quick Manager Appointmentby Jack Kitson / 03 April 2012, 15:34Tweet
Luton Town are on the hunt for a new manager after sacking Gary Brabin on Saturday. The Blue Square Bet Premier side have had their promotion prospects damaged in recent weeks following a poor run of just one win from their last seven league games, which has ultimately cost Brabin his job. The Hatters have slipped three points outside of the top five and with just seven matches remaining they are desperate to find a manager who can get their promotion push back on track. Alan Neilson and Paul Carden have been placed in temporary charge until the club find that man.
Former Torquay and Bristol Rovers manager Paul Buckle has emerged as the early favourite in the Next Luton Town Manager betting but today reports have linked Martin Allen with the vacancy. The 46-year-old has been out of work since he was sacked by Notts County back in February but he is rumoured to have caught the eye of the club’s owners. Assistant manager Alan Neilson, Nick Forster, Kevin Blackwell and Paul Peschisolido are also all in the running at this stage.
Luton travel to 9th placed Gateshead tonight knowing that a win would see them return into the top five courtesy of their superior goal difference. Paddy Power have Luton available as the 5/4 favourites, while Gateshead are priced at 15/8, with a draw available at 9/4. Luton also currently have odds of around 5/1 to get promoted up to League Two at the end of the season.
