Could this be Sir Alex’s Last Season?

Mark Cohen by Mark Cohen / 03 November 2009, 10:24

Is the end is sight for Fergi? For a number of years there has been speculation about when Sir Alex will call it a day. Without doubt the passion is still there, which is in evidence every time we see him being interviewed and his jumping up and down from his red seat at the stadium of dreams. But we can’t help but notice that there are cracks beginning to emerge both on and off the field.

His recent spat at referees has landed him in trouble with the authorities and, he is beginning to come across as a grumpy old man, mainly because his side are not the side of the last few years. His team has lost some of their very best players in the last 12 months and the backbone of what has made his most recent squad are not getting any younger and his young buds are not as good as Wenger’s.

The huge debt on the balance sheet, means that he is not going to have the recourses to purchase the quality needed in today’s market and once Sir Alex recognises this and the season gets down to the business end in the new year, there will be much talk about his retirement.

When it comes it will be quick and sharp and the current list of candidates will have been short listed and a successor will be paraded out in front of the media. Those who think they know who this candidate should make their wagers before February as we predict that come April 2010 Man Utd may have a new manager.
