Roy Keane Odds Cut In Leicester City Manager Bettingby Sean Raymond / 03 November 2011, 11:23Tweet
Former Ipswich Town manager Roy Keane has emerged as Lee Clark's major challenger in the Next Leicester City Manager Betting. On Wednesday Keane had his odds sliced from 11/1 to just 5/4 as he was installed as second in the running after Huddersfield Town boss Clark who was the outright 1/5 favourite. This morning the odds are changing by the minute with Clark currently the 11/10 favourite with Keane narrowly behind with odds of 2/1 to replace Sven Goran Eriksson as manager of Leicester City. Other names in the frame include Nigel Pearson, Billy Davies and Mark Hughes.
Keane has been out of work since being sacked by Ipswich at the start of the year. He has since been linked with numerous jobs, including most recently a return to Nottingham Forest, who he made over 100 appearances for at the start of his career. Leicester's Thai owners, King Power, are looking for an ambitious manager who has the credentials to get the club into the Premier League. This makes Keane an obvious candidate following his exploits with Sunderland, with whom he guided into the top flight. The 40-year-old is believed to be keen for a return to management and this could represent the perfect opportunity.
The frontrunner Clark may not have managed above League One but he has certainly impressed at Huddersfield who are currently on an incredible record-breaking 41 game unbeaten streak in the league. 39-year-old Clark is widely regarded as one of the most talented young managers in the Football League and at the time of writing remains the slight favourite for the post.
Whoever gets the job will be under pressure from the off with the minimum expectation the play-offs. Leicester, who began the season as the favourites for promotion, are currently in ninth place, two points adrift of the top six. The Championship is proving to be an extremely competitive league this season with a number of club's in with a shot of promotion. Leicester host Leeds on Sunday at the King Power Stadium where they will be looking to win their second match on the spin while Leeds will be desperate to recover from their 5-0 mauling at the hands of Blackpool. Stan James have managerless City as the 10/11 favourites, with Leeds priced at 5/2 and a draw at 14/5.
