When Watford gave the job to Quique Sanchez Flores - who they sacked before - what was the point? If there was a problem the first time around, then why did they bring him back only to sack him again?
From the outside, it just looks weird.
There must be a method to their madness but at the end of the day Watford need someone who knows the English league and can get the English spirit going because our football is about effort, work rate and togetherness, which is what separates us from the rest of the world, in my opinion.
At the moment you can’t see any of those characteristics in Watford’s play.
Watford have some high-quality players but are they all wearing the shirt with pride, like Troy Deeney does?
That second-half against Southampton was absolutely awful. The lack of commitment, tackling, drive and passion was alarming. They were void of leaders.
If players know that a coach is going to come in and only get 80 days in the job, then would they really want to listen to him? You’re getting you payslip, then you can blame the coach when things go wrong.
When you chop-and-change the manager so frequently it can have a negative effect on the group dynamic. It could takes years to sort out, not months.
Could Tony Pulis soon be heading back to the Premier League?
Sabri Lamouchi has been linked (7/1) but if I was him I’d stay at Nottingham Forest.
Forest are a sleeping giant and the team is doing ever so well this season. I watched them live against QPR recently, and they won 4-0 away. It was a very impressive performance.
Lamouchi looks to have a special affinity with Forest, his team work in the right way, they press and they close, and they are a good defensive unit.
If they carry on the way they’re going he could be the manager that gets them promoted back up to the Premier League. I can understand why Watford are interested but I can’t see him leaving to be honest.
I see that Paul Clement (16/1) has been mentioned, but how can he be in the frame? What’s he done? He’s failed everywhere he’s been. I don’t get it.
Personally, I would appoint Tony Pulis (20/1). He’s never been relegated and defensively he knows how to set teams up. Watford are leaking in goals and confidence is low so he could be the man to come in and make an impact at this time.
Sam Allardyce (4/1) and Chris Hughton (8/1) would also be viable options right now, given the club’s position in the table.
