Roberto Mancini remains favourite for Italy jobby Jack Kitson / 04 July 2014, 09:07Tweet
Former Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini could be set to make a quick return to the dugout by venturing into the international scene and taking charge of Italy. The Italian departed Galatasaray last month, and has since been linked with the likes of Southampton and former club Inter Milan. However the 49-year-old is now the 15/8 favourite with Paddy Power to manage his country, following the departure of Cesare Prandelli, who is ironically hotly linked with the Turkish giants.
Prandelli stepped down from his position at the Azzurri after their shock early exit from the 2014 World Cup. The four-time winners got off to a winning start against England, before suffering surprise defeats to Costa Rica and Uruguay.
Mancini, who has won league titles in both his homeland and England, has since emerged as the favourite in the betting, although he faces stiff competition from the likes of ex-Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri (5/2) and former Udinese gaffer Francesco Guidolin (6/1). Meanwhile the under-fire Russia manager Fabio Capello could be worth a bet at 9/1, while Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti is back at 11/1.
