Arsene Wenger's Odds Cut Following Tottenham Defeatby Jack Kitson / 04 March 2013, 10:00Tweet
Under-fire Arsene Wenger is now the second favourite in the Premier League Sack Race following Sunday's defeat away to Tottenham. The Frenchman has been under immense pressure for the past few weeks and the costly loss has seen Sky Bet slash his odds from 33/1 to 12/1, as he moved behind the 4/6 frontrunner Rafa Benitez.
The 2-1 defeat to their North London rivals sees the Gunners drop five points off a prized top-four spot, putting their Champions League qualification in serious doubt. Wenger has admitted that his side now face a real challenge to claim a top-four finish, with Spurs moving seven points clear of their neighbours with just 10 matches remaining. Arsenal are now available at 7/4 with Paddy Power to finish in the top-four and 2/5 not to.
The Gunners will now turn their attention to next Wednesday's pivotal Champions League second-leg away to Bayern Munich. They face an almighty task of progressing through to the quarter-finals having lost 3-1 at home in the first-leg. Wenger's men go into the match priced as the 8/1 underdogs to win at the Allianz Arena and 14/1 long shot to qualify for the next round.
